PUBLIC NOTICE

CALL FOR COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED LICENSING GUIDELINES

Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) wishes to notify stakeholders and the general public that the new ICT Licensing Framework came into effect on June 16, 2017 upon the Honourable Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr. Brian Mushimba signing the following regulations issued under the ICT Act No. 15 of 2009:

(a)  The Information and Communication Technologies (Allocation of 3G frequencies) (Revocation) Order, 2017 (Statutory Instrument No. 45 of 2017);

 

(b)  The Information and Communication Technologies (Allocation of 2G frequencies) (Revocation) Order, 2017 (Statutory Instrument No. 46 of 2017);

 

(c)  The Information and Communication Technologies (Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017 (Statutory Instrument No. 47 of 2017); and

 

(d)  The Information and Communication Technologies (Fees) Regulations, 2017 (Statutory Instrument No. 48 of 2017).

 

In light of the above, the Authority has drafted the applicable Licensing Guidelines which, once finalized, will operationalize the New Licensing Framework.

The Authority is hereby seeking comments from yourselves regarding the proposed Licensing Guidelines before the same are finalized.
